the orange
bittersweet
you’ll forever be that way.
you will never be the sunset on a summer day
your life wasn’t the flutter of a monarch’s wings.
not to me.
I loved you.
but there’s a tartness on my tongue
and words we both swallowed
sour juice left in the sun.
peace has found you
I wanted it that way
but there are some things best left
unconsumed.
A short debut poetry collection that explores all of the demons that life throws at you.
This collection of poetry and prose is ripped from the soul of an autistic woman with a deep love of nature and her children. Through these words, she hopes to find her way in this neurotypically dominant world while reconciling the struggles of the past.
