The Delany Bennets is an African American version of Pride & Prejudice. Since its inception, Martin Delany University has provided work and a home to the Bennet family. Mr. Bennet proudly serves as the university’s lead groundskeeper, and Elizabeth Bennet is a popular literature and hip hop studies professor. In the fall of 1999, Mr. Bennet learns that the Delany-Bennet legacy is ending, causing Professor Bennet to wonder about her future at Delany and the inevitable changes to her family. The arrival of the handsome and pragmatic Dr. William Darcy only complicates matters.
